Camping
This peaceful campsite is located in a quiet valley with it’s own lake, stream and woodland.
The pitches are well spaced and all are level, some are on grass and some are on a hard standing overlooking the lake and valley and with a choice of shade. Last year we opened the meadow for tents providing beautiful secluded sites by the ambling river Touroulet.
We can accommodate twin axel vans. We have currently 8 pitches, all with 6 amp supply and easy access to water.
There is a modern shower block providing modern facilities and British WCs. Push button hot showers, shaving points in the male section and hairdryer points in the female section. A washing machine is situated at the rear and dishwashing and laundry sinks at the front.
The donkeys, hens and ducks as well as our much loved cat will all welcome you. You will hear the night jars in the spring nights and see kingfishers and herons on the river.
The grounds afford plenty of space for playing outdoor games. There is an outdoor table tennis table and a small above ground swimming pool, also an indoors games room with basket ball hoop and darts board for rainy days. We do not have games machines. We organise competitions in the summer as well as run our famous barbecues, joined by locals and where we welcome people to bring their guitars and other musical instruments to join our evening soirees.
The site has it’s own lake and small sandy beach and shade where you can watch the children play. The lake shore shelves gradually on 1 side making it suitable for swimming and paddling. The far side has banks where fishermen can pass a pleasant hour fishing and share a fisherman's tale in the evening sunshine over a glass of wine.
The river Touroulet ambles through the site making small pools where you can see the fish basking in the sun. It's heaven for paddling in on a hot summers day.
The mill itself is over 2 hundred years old and houses it’s own bar and restaurant, popular with locals as well as campers, providing both English & French cuisine or even Chinese or Indian food.
There are tables on the patio where you can eat your meals on a summer evening or sit inside and enjoy the ambience of the oak beamed interior
We vary our menu to suit your tastes and your budget and are always open to requests and suggestions.
Nearly all our food is home cooked and served with vegetables from the garden when available. The restaurant is licensed to serve beer and wine. In quieter periods we welcome our guests to join us and eat en famille and sharing our stories in front of a log fire in winter. In the autumn we roast chestnuts in the fire whilst drinking the odd glass of wine.
The campsite is open all year round as is the restaurant and the fire always lit to welcome guests to sit round on a colder evening just to share a glass of wine even if you don’t wish to eat.
The mill also retains all the old machinery and is great historic interest. You are welcome to walk round it and visit a bygone age. Our aim at all times is to preserve the peace and tranquillity of the site and retain it’s character and history.
The river is not very deep and is suitable
for children to play in.
